April
2006
New
Drainage System
In
October 2005 the new drainage system was laid, which has improved the
drainage of the square and outfield immensely.
New
Practice Nets
Hopefully
in April 2006 the practice nets will be installed.
Both projects
were funded through an ECB grant with 5% being paid by the Cricket Club.
The
Problem Drain
We
are still working on the draining problem near the oak tree. We have had
meetings with council officials and United Utilities. Our President Lord
Hoyle has now intervened and we hope the problem will soon be resolved
in the not to distant future.
Clubhouse
Refurbishment
You
will notice on entering the clubhouse that we have invested in new stools
and chairs, but most of all new curtains.
Sad
Note
On
February 6th saw the passing of good friend and past player of Adlington
Cricket Club Dick Berry. His funeral took place on February 14th at Overdale.
Lynsey Hoyle and works colleagues paid tribute to Dicks life. After
the service family and friends were welcomed back at the cricket club.
I know the senior and junior players will miss his advice on how to play
the game of cricket of which he loved. Dick had many qualities and we
will all miss him dearly.
Annual
Dinner
Thank
you to all those who came to the Annual Dinner on 4th February. Although
the numbers were down those who came I have been told thoroughly enjoyed
themselves and are very much behind the Committee to hold 2007 at the
clubhouse. Many thanks to Kevin Moss for the cabaret and disco.
Congratulations
Congratulations
to all at Adlington C C on having won the James Glover Trophy for the
8th time. This voted for by the Umpires of B & D C A. The criteria
is the manner in which the game is played by both 1st and 2nd XI. Well
done everyone.

The Committee
would like to wish 1st and 2nd XI and all the Junior sides good luck for
the coming season lets hope we can bring some trophies back to Adlington
